Sheriff: Suspect hit homeowner with pistol during domestic disturbance

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – An East Bernstadt woman has been arrested after she beat a woman with a pistol Wednesday night, according to the Laurel Co. Sheriff.

The Sheriff says deputies were sent to a home off Keavy Road just before 7:30 p.m., on reports of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.  When deputies arrived, they learned that Melissa Houston, 50, had been at the home earlier in the day, and was asked to leave by the homeowner.

About 20 minutes later, however, deputies say Houston returned with a gun, and pointed it at the homeowner while threatening her.  Deputies say the homeowner told them Houston also hit her in the head with the pistol, causing cuts on her face, arms, and hands.

Deputies were able to determine that Houston was intoxicated, and found the gun on her.

She was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, criminal trespassing, and public intoxication.

She was taken to the Laurel Co. Detention Center.
