Police: Suspect in burglary caught in act

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Police in London have arrested a man they say was in the process of a burglary at Dogwood Hills Apartments on Monday morning.

According to officers, they received a call about the burglary around 5:00 a.m.  When they got to the scene, police say they could hear glass breaking at the property.

Police say when they checked around the rear of the building, they found 25-year-old Kevin A. Martin busting out the windows of one of the apartments.

Officers say Martin told them he thought he was entering his mother’s apartment, who has a Domestic Violence Order out against him.  Further investigation revealed that the apartment was not Martin’s mother’s, but the residence of another person who also had domestic issues with Martin.  According to police, Martin was not permitted to be on the property due to those ongoing issues.

Martin was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, public intoxication excluding alcohol, violation of Kentucky EPO/DVO, and second-degree criminal trespassing. He was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
