Former Paducah Sun publisher Frank Paxton dies
PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) – Frank R. Paxton, a former publisher of The Paducah Sun and a civic leader, has died. He was 88.
An obituary from Milner & Orr Funeral Home says Paxton died Monday at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.
He was the son of Edwin J. Paxton Sr. and Florence Brown Paxton. After graduating from Notre Dame in 1948 with a bachelor’s degree in commerce, Paxton took a position with the family newspaper, then known as The Paducah Sun-Democrat. The newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/1N22d44) that he succeeded his father as publisher in 1961 and served in that role until 1968.
He later served as president of The Paducah Bank and Trust Co. He also served on the boards of several community organizations including Lourdes Hospital, the Paducah Rotary Club, the Paducah-McCracken County Community Chest and the Paducah Chamber of Commerce.
