7 families displaces in fire at Kentucky apartment building

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) – Fire officials in Bowling Green say a fire has destroyed an apartment building and left seven families homeless.

The Bowling Green Daily News (http://bit.ly/2b3Trtn ) reports two police officers sought treatment for smoke inhalation during Saturday’s fire at the Lovers Lane Apartments. Fire department spokeswoman Marlee Boenig says the officers were helping residents get out of the building.

No residents were injured. Boenig says more than 30 people lived in the building.

The American Red Cross was assisting the families in finding temporary places to stay.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
