Fayette new COVID cases lower, total tops 48,000
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Fayette County’s new COVID cases topped another milestone Wednesday even as new cases show signs of leveling off.
According to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s morning report Thursday, the county recorded 184 new cases Wednesday, pushing the total so far in September to 5,823 cases.
The new cases pushed the county’s total above 48,000 to 48,149 since March 2020.
The county-s seven-day moving average fell to 169 cases a day.With one day left, September could top December 2020 to become the third-worst month.
The county has lost 363 residents to COVID-related causes.
