62nd Inauguration Celebration to be held next month
Frankfort, Ky. (WTVQ) — Plans are underway for Governor Andy Beshear’s inauguration celebrations next month. Governor Beshear was re-elected to office earlier this month.
During a Team Kentucky update in Frankfort on Thursday, First lady Britainy Beshear shared the details for his inauguration.
The inauguration will be held December 12th, starting at 8:30 a.m. for a breakfast reception, which will be held at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
The breakfast will be followed by a worship service at the First Christian Church and the inaugural parade.
Lady Beshear is excited for this year’s inaugural theme “Forward Together.”
“This theme is really important to Andy and me,” said Lady Beshear. “We want to pay tribute to how Kentuckians have come together and gotten through so many hard times over the past four years. And how together we have moved forward to arrive where we are today as we build a bright future.”
After the swearing in ceremony, the inauguration will end with a grand march at the capitol and the inaugural gala at 7 p.m. at the capitol annex tent.
Lady Beshear says that due to an ‘overwhelming interest’ the gala will be a ticketed event.
Kids of Kentucky can be apart of the celebration by entering the inauguration poster contest.
“For us it’s important that Kentucky kids lend their talents to the inauguration celebration,” said Lady Beshear. “What better way to do that, than through art?”
“School age children from across the common wealth are invited to send us their poster art work, depicting what they think Kentuckians can accomplish in the future by continuing to work together.”
The five winners, their families and their school representatives will invited to the capitol for the inauguration.
For those who will not be able to attend the inauguration, Lady Beshear says it will be streamed on KET.org.
