The Commonwealth celebrates at the Inaugural Ball and Grand March
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Tuesday night the Commonwealth celebrated the new Governor and his administration for almost a full 24 hours.
At the Grand March, it was a black tie affair full of tradition, each pair or family walking down the marble staircase to the Capitol Rotunda.
Governor Andy Beshear’s first dance with his first lady was to the song “Have a Little in Faith in Me.”
The Grand March was followed by two Inaugural Balls on Capitol Grounds.
Both were similar events with lots of food, drinks and dancing to live bands.
Tamara Hart is a Kentucky native. She said the evening is a time of celebration for the whole Commonwealth.
“I think we’re on the cusp of doing some really great things here in Kentucky,” Hart said. “We have all the agriculture, we have the industry, we have great institutions, and it’s a lot of hope for the future.”
The Inaugural Balls ran from 9 p.m. to midnight and was open to the public.
