After 40-year vacancy, old Frankfort distillery renovated & reopened

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – After a 40-year vacancy at the Old Taylor Distillery Company, built in 1887, two bourbon industry newcomers have officially reopened it as Castle & Key Distillery.

Through changes in ownership, the Old Taylor Distillery Company grounds were neglected, and they fell into a state of disrepair. Still, though entirely unfamiliar with the bourbon business, Wesley Murry saw hope in the distillery.

That’s why he and Will Arvin started learning about the inner workings of a distillery, and their brand, Castle & Key, was born.

Now, after four and a half years of renovations, the distillery is up and running.
