3 teens arrested after string of burglaries in Laurel Co.
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police in London have arrested a 15, 16, and 17-year-old in connection to four burglaries of Laurel Co. little league facilities and concession stands.
Officers say they received a tip on Monday about the burglaries that happened at South London Little League, North Laurel Little League, North Laurel High School and North Laurel Middle School, as well as a press box. Police say the incidents caused damage in excess of $1,000 dollars at each site.
Investigators say on Wednesday, they received a tip that one of the suspects was outside a Burger King on North Main Street, handing out concession food from his vehicle. When they arrived, officers say the suspect told them the other two juveniles involved in the burglaries were walking along Falls Road. Police say when they found the other two, one of them ran away, but later turned himself in. All three were arrested.
According to a release from the police department, when the teens were asked why they burglarized the facilities, the juveniles said that they did it “out of boredom.”
Several items, including drinks, water, a cooler, football helmets, concession food, and a destroyed DVR were recovered, though other items are still missing. Anyone with any information about the missing items are asked to call the London Police Department at (606) 878-7004 or the Laurel Co. Sheriff’s Office at (606) 864-6600.
The teens have been charged with burglary, criminal mischief, and theft. One of the juveniles was also charged with fleeing and evading police.
