3 Louisville children hit by SUV passing school bus

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS/WTVQ) – ABC affiliate WHAS in Louisville is reporting that 2 children are in critical condition and one is in serious condition after being hit by an SUV that was passing a school bus Thursday morning.

According to the station, it happened around 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of 32nd and Dumesnil Streets, as the children were waiting to get on the bus to go to Dixie and Engelhard Elementary Schools.  The station says no other children were on the bus.

Metro Police told WHAS that the bus was stopped with flashing lights when the Escalade tried to pass, trapping one girl under the SUV in the collision.

The two children in critical condition are 9 and 10 years old, according to the station.

WHAS says that all three of the children were taken to Kosair Children’s Hospital, while the driver of the SUV was taken to University Hospital for minor injuries.
