2nd deputy involved in Knox Co. shooting released from hospital
KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- State Police say the second deputy in Knox County shot on Monday has been released from the hospital.
Police say Deputy Keith Liford and Deputy Claude Hudson were at a residence off Ky 225 in Artemus community attempting to serve an indictment warrant on 50-year-old John Bays.
While the deputies were inside the home Bays shot both of them, according to investigators. Police say both deputies returned fire, killing Bays.
Authorities say deputy Liford was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center and was treated and released on Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery.
Deputy Hudson was taken by private vehicle to Knox County ARH and then released that day, according to police.
State Police say a second man at the scene, Brian Simpson, was arrested by Troopers on active arrest warrants.
