Stamp Out Hunger bags to be sent to Lexington homes
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Postal workers and city officials want to make sure Lexington residents are ready for the 25th annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
Over the next two weeks, grocery bags with detailed instructions will be delivered to homes in the city.
To help fight hunger, all residents have to do is fill the bag with non-perishable products, and place them on the doorstep for letter carriers on Saturday, May 13th.
Ken Becraft, with the National Association of Letter Carriers, says, “Last year we broke the world record. We collected over 80 million pounds of food in a single day. We hope that you all will help us beat that record again this year.”
Stamp Out Hunger is the world’s largest single-day food drive.
All food collected from Lexington this year will benefit local food banks, including Light House Ministries, the Catholic Action Center and God’s Pantry.
