FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky’s transportation department is warning about a text scam.
The scam shows a message claiming to be affiliated with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, but labeled KyDOT. If you’ve lived in another state you’ll recognize that short hand as ‘department of transportation.’
A text phishing attempt was reported today, impersonating a state agency. The text message includes a link and the sender is listed as "KYDOT." The text message IS NOT from KYTC and recipients are warned not to click the link that asks for personal information. pic.twitter.com/hETJ0o9xl1

Keep in mind in Kentucky the short hand is KYTC. So, the state says if you get a text like this do not fill out your personal information it is a scam.
If you submitted information you’re asked to contact the attorney general’s website about potential identity theft.
