Collision injures two and snarls traffic on Winchester Road

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two people suffered minor injuries and traffic was backed-up on Winchester Road in Lexington on Tuesday night due to a collision, according to Lexington Police.

Investigators say two cars were traveling east toward Winchester on Winchester Road just after 9:30 p.m.  Police say the lead car slowed to turn into a driveway when the car immediately behind it rear-ended the vehicle.

Officers say this happened near the intersection of Winchester Road and Royster Road.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital, according to police.  No names were released.

Winchester Road was temporarily closed in both directions while the accident scene was cleaned-up.  One viewer told ABC 36 News, they were stuck in traffic and didn’t move for 30-minutes.

The road reopened at 11:45 p.m., according to police.
