HAZARD, Ky. (WTVQ) – There were widespread power outages across eastern Kentucky on Thursday.
Outages were reported by various utility companies in Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Knott, Letcher, Perry and Pike counties.
In Hazard, a tree fell on power lines that utility officials say played a role in a transformer that exploded on Main Street. No one was hurt, but more than 1,200 customers lost power.
Utility crews are working in all the affected counties to restore power as quickly as possible.
