2019 Barbasol Championship PGA Tour to return to Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Barbasol Championship is heading back to Lexington! The 2019 PGA tour will take place July 18-21 at Champions Golf Club in Lexington.
Bryan Pettigrew, the tournament director, says 132 of the best golfers from around the world will be here to compete.
Troy Merritt won the tournament last year and will be back this year to defend that title.
“We’re just hoping it’s a little bit drier this year,” joked Merritt.
Pettigrew says it’s a major economic impact for the area, “There are 42 of these tournaments that take place worldwide for the PGA Tour and Kentucky is lucky to have one of those.”
Merritt shared a bit of advice for those looking to attend, “Get out early, get out often. Go out and see the golf course it’s a beautiful golf course. When you’ve seen it, get your favorite beverage, get a snack and find a place to plant yourself and watch some good golf.”
With so many visitors set to be in town for the event, Pettigrew says they are looking for volunteers. If you’re interested in volunteering, click HERE.
The event is open to the public. Those looking for tickets can find them HERE.
