LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- For many of us, New Year’s resolutions often include working on health.
If exercising more is one of your resolutions you could get a fresh start right away on a New Year’s Hike in one of Lexington’s parks.
New Year’s Day Lexington Parks and Recreation is hosting hikes at Raven Run and McConnell Springs at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.
Parks and Recreation has organized first day hikes for several years now.
They give parks employees a chance to show people what’s happened in their parks over the last year and talk about plans for the next year.
The hikes won’t be too challenging.
They’re just a way to start the new year well, surrounded by the city’s natural beauty.
“From day one, you can come outside, you can get into some exercise, get the family together, come out, get outdoors, get away from the electronics, away from the Christmas presents, get back outside, and get started on those goals first thing,” Kenneth Black, Outdoor Recreation Supervisor at McConnell Springs, said.
If you want to hike, you can show up day of, but organizers encourage you to register. You can do that by calling Raven Run at 859 272 6105 or McConnell Springs at 859 225 4073.
