2016 Faith & Community Christmas Store Begins Setup

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Work has begun in setting up the 21st annual Faith & Community Christmas Store, hosted by Southland Christian Church and the Catholic Action Center.

The Faith & Community Christmas store provides a place for parents and individuals, who otherwise couldn’t afford Christmas gifts, to shop for them for free.  The store will be located at Southland’s Richmond Road Campus, and will be open from December 19th through the 21st.

According to a release from the church, more than 20,000 kids in Central Kentucky received Christmas gifts last year.  Organizers say they want another successful run this year, but it takes volunteers and donations.

Here’s how you can get involved:

Donate: Anything for kids ages 0-18 years old (Coats, clothing, games, toys, accessories, movies, books). You can drop off your new or gently used donations through December 21 at the storage containers located near the entrances at the Richmond Road campus and at the Harrodsburg Road campus.

Volunteer: Volunteers are needed to help organize items, help people shop, wrap gifts, serving refreshments, and any other miscellaneous tasks during the day. Sign up for a shift here.
