200 horses pre-entered for Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – 200 of the world’s best Thoroughbreds are pre-entered for the Breeders’ Cup that will take place at Keeneland, just shy of the record-breaking number of pre-entrants from last year.

Triple Crown winner American Pharoah has pre-entered and will be going for a “grand slam.” Two-time Breeders’ Cup champion Beholder and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Golden Horn are others who pre-entered along with 32 international horses.

The 32nd Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Thoroughbred racing’s most prestigious global event, consisting of 13 grade one races with purses and awards totaling $26 million.

There will be four Breeders’ Cup races on Championship Friday, October 30th and nine Breeders’ Cup races on Championship Saturday, October 31st.

Pre-entry is the first step of a two-stage process for horses participating in the Breeders’ Cup.
Entry and the Post-Position Draw for the Breeders’ Cup races will take place on Monday, at Keeneland.
