2 western Kentucky men killed in head-on crash, 1 injured

ISLAND, Ky. (AP) – Two western Kentucky men have died in a head-on crash in McLean County.

Kentucky State Police identified the men as 41-year-old Jose C. Ojeda-Solis of Hartford, the driver of one of the cars, and 23-year-old Patrick Baxter of Central City, who was a passenger in the other car. The driver of the second car, 36-year-old Chris Stewart of Central City, suffered injuries considered to be serious and was taken to a hospital.

Police said the wreck happened around 6:40 a.m. CDT on U.S. 431 about 1 ½ miles south of Island, just north of the Muhlenberg County line. Police said Ojeda-Solis was passing another vehicle when he hit Stewart.

Ojeda-Solis and Baxter was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remained under investigation.

Police said both lanes of the highway were affected for more than four hours.
