2 fall over Natural Bridge cliff; saved by Powell Co. Search & Rescue
SLADE, Ky. (WTVQ) — Two women who fell over a cliff while hiking at Natural Bridge were saved by the Powell County Search & Rescue team Thursday evening.
Around 6 p.m. yesterday, PCSAR received a call from a woman that she and a friend were hiking just past the gazebo at the top of Natural Bridge when her friend slipped on leaves near the edge of a cliff and fell over.
The woman said she saw her friend hit her head numerous times while tumbling down the cliff and was out of sight.
After the PCSAR team left, the woman called back and said while she was looking over, she also slipped and fell down about 30 feet, however, she wa able to grab ahold of a small tree on the side of the cliff.
Both women were rescued by the PCSAR team and are expected to make a full recovery.
Middlefork Fire and Rescue, Powell County Emergency Medical Services, Red STAR Wilderness EMS and Natural Bridge State Resort Park rangers and trail maintenance crews assisted PCSAR.
