2 die weeks after apartment fire in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Two people who were hospitalized after an apartment fire on Oct. 15 in south Lexington have died from their injuries.
The fire happened around 3:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Malabu Drive.
Both victims were found outside of the apartment — thanks to a “heroic” neighbor who helped get them out — and were taken to the hospital, where they’ve been for the past two weeks.
A Lexington Fire Department spokesperson confirmed to ABC 36 on Tuesday the two have both died.
The Fayette County coroner has not yet released their names.
The cause was deemed accidental, reportedly starting from some type of smoking material.
