UPDATE: Shooting victims found near, inside car

found beside and inside a car, Lexington Police said in a statement Monday that provided a few new details about the case.

On Sunday, July 4, 2021, at approximately 1:18 a.m., officers responded to 2501 Danielle Lane regarding a subject possibly having a medical emergency. Upon arrival, officers located the 26-year-old Tyler M. Sandusky, identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, dead from a gunshot wound, police said in the statement.

The victim was located near a Toyota Camry.

After further investigation, officers located a second victim, a 27-year-old male Shaquille L. Newby, identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, in the front passenger seat of the Toyota Camry, police said.

The victim was also suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area is between Liberty Road and New Circle Road.

Detectives are continuing to investigate.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) Lexington police are investigating a shooting Sunday morning that left two dead.

Police say they were called around 1:18 A.M. for a possible medical emergency at the 2500 block of Danielle Lane.

Police say when they arrived they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

According to the Fayette County Coroner, 27-year-old Shaquille Lewis Newby was found dead in the parking lot at Danielle Lane, and 26-year-old Tyler Malahn Sandusky was pronounced dead at UK Medical Center after the shooting incident.

Lexington Police do not know what led to the shooting and are still investigating.
