2 dead after fatal shooting in Gallatin Co.

State police are investigating a fatal shooting in Gallatin County.

Troopers say on Monday around 4:30 a.m., they responded to an altercation between two men on Main Street in Warsaw.

Gallatin County Sheriff Josh Neale says that when he arrived, 35-year-old Treigh Monroe, of Louisville, KY was holding 54-year-old Dwight Wesley, of Bennington, IN, at gunpoint. Sheriff Neale attempted to de-escalate the situation and negotiate with Monroe.

The sheriff says negotiations stalled and Monroe shot and killed Wesley before turning the gun on himself.

Monroe was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Gallatin County Coroner. Wesley was transported to Carroll County Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.  Autopsies for both individuals are scheduled with the Louisville Medical Examiner’s Office.
