2 arrested in overnight Nicholasville car robbery

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two men have been arrested in connection to a car theft in Nicholasville overnight.

Police say they were called to Hickory Hill shortly after midnight on Thursday about a man laying in the street.  When they arrived, officers say a witness told them that he heard a noise, came out side, and found the victim.  Officers say the witness also said he saw a black Toyota Prius driving away.

After administering first aid to the man in the street, investigators say the man told them that he had agreed to give two men a ride home from a bar, but when they got to the Hickory Hill area, the two men beat him up and took his car.  Officers say the man had injuries to his face.

Officers also learned that the two men were headed to Anderson County, prompting Nicholasville Police to contact the Anderson Co. Sheriff’s Office, who found the car and the suspects in a Taco Bell parking lot.

After further investigation, police were able to establish probable cause, and arrested 24-year-old Christopher Damrel and 22-yeear-old Joseph Penny.  Both men were charged with robbery and taken to the Jessamine County Detention Center.
