2 accused in Mercer Co. teen’s death arrested on drug charges
HARRODSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two teens accused in connection to the April 2016 murder of 17-year-old Tristan Cole were arrested on drug charges Saturday.
According to the Boyle County Detention Center, Zachary Lay and Meagan Sims, both 19, were charged with trafficking in marijuana and cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In court on Tuesday, both pleaded not guilty to the charges, and are both being held on a $20,000 dollar bond.
Investigators accuse Trent Easterling of murdering Cole, who’s body was discovered on April 13 near a barn off Deep Creek Road, west of Harrodsburg.
Lay and Sims were charged with tampering with physical evidence in the death.
All three pleaded not guilty in connection to Cole’s death.
