LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington Police say they’re looking for three or four suspects, who are possibly armed, after a teenager was shot in the face.

Police say the 17-year-old victim was shot in the head around 5:30 Friday afternoon at a home on Honey Jay Court. Officers say he was with friends when it happened.

Police say they haven’t found the gun and it’s still unclear why it was fired. The mother of two of the boys home at the time told police she heard the gunshot and was unaware of any weapons in the house.

Lexington Police Lieutenant Jackie Newman says, “We are looking for 3 to 4 subjects at this time….Very vague descriptions, we don’t really have any additional information as to what happened..whether this actually was an intentional act, whether it was an accidental discharge of a firearm. ”

As a precaution, police secured nearby Tates Creek High School for about a half hour, until it was determined the suspects were out of the area.
