11th annual Big Blue Slam blood battle gets underway

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Wildcat fans are asked to bleed blue this week to help save a life.

A blood drive is underway to help Kentucky slam the Gators in the 11th annual Big Blue Slam blood battle.

The friendly competition takes place between blood donors of Kentucky and Florida. It’s a fun tradition that also ensures enough blood is on the shelves for the thousands of Kentucky and Florida patients who will require transfusions during the winter.

Florida won last year but the competition is tied, 5-5.
