10th Annual World Horseshoeing Classic headed to Richmond

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – The 10th Annual World Horseshoeing Classic is headed to the Bluegrass state.

Dozens of the best farriers in the world will head to Richmond to form 18 teams and compete for a $10,000 purse and the title “World Champions”.

The Kentucky Horseshoeing School hosts the three-day event in Madison County.

Each team will have two hours to impress the judges with their expertise of foot preparation, forging an adequate shoe, how well the shoe fits and finishing and nailing the shoes.

The farrier’s skills will be tested as they perform on three different horse varieties.

Day 1 – Draft Horses
Day 2 – Hunter Horses
Day 3 – Roadster Horses

The family-friendly event kicks off Thursday, Feb. 28 and goes through Saturday, March 2.
