10th annual hunger walk to raise awareness about food insecurity in Eastern KY

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentuckians came together Thursday to raise awareness about food insecurity in the eastern part of the state.

It’s the 10th year the Christian Appalachian Project has hosted the hunger walk, which brings out schools churches local businesses and more.

The organization says one in four children in the area is food insecure.

One Rockcastle County middle schooler said it hurts to know so many families are affected.

“Hunger can affect the people close to you, the people you love, or the people who make you laugh the most,” Addison Carter said. “Those people could be suffering from hunger and they still might be suffering.”

The hunger walk was also held in Lexington for the first time.
