KSP: Man arrested after punching, stabbing stepfather

FLEMINGSBURG Ky. (WTVQ) -Kentucky State Police have arrested a Flemingsburg man after they say he assaulted his stepfather on Wednesday.

Troopers say they received a call about the assault on Wolf Run Road around 9:05 p.m.  Officers say when they got there they discovered that Matthew Werthwine, 37, got into an argument with his stepfather, and ended up punching the man and stabbing him twice in the abdomen.

According to police, Werthwine then drove off, and ended up wrecking on Wolf Run Road.  He was arrested and charged with assault, tampering with evidence, and DUI, along with additional charges.

Werthwine’s stepfather was taken to St. Claire Regional Medical Hospital for treatment of his injuries.  Police say he was later released.

Werthwine was taken to the Mason Co. Detention Center.
