Lexington fire department working house fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Fire Department is on the scene of a two alarm fire.

The fire department says they responded to Smugglers Notch Drive for a structure fire around 1:45 p.m. When they arrived they found two homes fully involved.

The Lexington fire major thinks the flames might have started somewhere outside the home, and then spread to a neighboring house.

It has been very windy out here which the major says helped cause the fire to spread

The Major says no one was inside the houses, though two dogs were rescued from the flames by a neighbor.

Fire crews are going through the homes, trying to salvage whatever they can.  They say the homes are very badly damaged.
