Investigators say the car was traveling westbound on HWY 70 when the driver lost control of the vehicle.  Witness accounts say that the Corvette hit a concrete culvert, then an embankment, before going airborne, flipping several times before landing in a field.

Both the driver, 37-year-old Timothy J. Barron, and a passenger, 50-year-old Rhonda Sandidge, were thrown from the vehicle.  Barron was airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center.  No word on his condition.  Sandidge was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
