NICHOLAS COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky Veteran Charles Wilson from Carlisle left for Normandy, France Monday morning, to be honored for risking his life as part of the 4th Infantry division, which stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.

ABC 36 News interviewed the Kentucky WWII Veteran last week, to ask about his experiences during the war, and his preparation for this commemoration.

"I went through a lot of stuff, travel, all kinds of obstacles, but I made it," says Wilson.

He added that part of his speech at France will include; "If you need me, I’ll be back over here and I can raise my leg and kick butts."
