Wreaths Across America: Veteran Honors Fallen Veterans
All across America, people placed wreaths on veterans graves to honor and remember their service.
For one veteran, this day is special because he gets to say thank you to those who fought for the same freedoms he did.
Matthew Bradford is a Marines veteran. In 2006, he deployed to Iraq and spent five months there.
On January 18th, 2007, Matthew stepped on a roadside bomb.
He spent three weeks in a coma, lost both of his legs, and his vision.
“I shouldn’t of lived but the good Lord above was looking out for me,” said Matthew Bradford.
He realized that even though he wasn’t fighting over seas, he could make a big difference for veterans at home.
“My mission in life is to bring awareness, to inspire, and motivate others to go out live beyond their bare minimum,” said Bradford.
For those that have already he lost their lives, he honors them by visiting the cemetery and saying a prayer.
He encourages everyone to honor veterans every day of the year and it can be as simple as visiting a cemetery, shaking a hand, or just saying thank you.
