Worsening Drought Conditions Have Farmers Worried

The lack of rain and above average temperatures has drought conditions worsening.
As of the beginning of June, the Bluegrass and eastern Kentucky are not in a drought, while the western half of the state deals with moderate to extreme drought conditions.

Tom Priddy with the University of Kentucky Agriculture Department explains that ideally "we would like to see an inch or more rain per week in Kentucky for farming." 
However, we are nowhere near that.
Although not in a drought, the U.S. Drought Monitor does show that Breathitt, Wolfe, Magoffin, Morgan, Menifee, and Wayne Counties are all abnormally dry.
