Worker Hospitalized After Plant Fire

One worker was sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation after a small fire broke out at the Georgia Pacific plant on Mercer Road around 10:00 Sunday night.

The fire was contained to one room and didn’t cause major damage to the building.

Batallion Chief Jeff Nantz said the fire started because of a buildup of by-product in one of the machines.

Workers were sent home after the fire, but returned to work today.
