Woodford Humane Society, Quantrell Auto Group partner for Adoption Drive
VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) — In what’s become a yearly tradition since 2012, Quantrell Auto Group is partnering with the Woodford Humane Society for its annual Adoption Drive.
“What that means for adopters is that they can come in and adopt a pet with no adoption fee because Quantrell Auto Group has picked up the tab,” says marketing director Beth Oleson. “It’s a really special occasion for us here, and hopefully a really special occasion for lots of pets who are hoping to have a home — not just for the holidays, but forever.”
Oleson says the Adoption Drive is a great opportunity for animal lovers who may be considering an addition to their family this holiday season.
“If you’ve been thinking about adopting and you’ve just been waiting for that little nudge to get you to take action,” says Oleson. “Our hope is that this adoption drive will be your nudge and you’ll come out and take a pet home.”
The Adoption Drive runs through December 23rd. It’s an effort to help boost pet adoptions, which have been down the last couple of months. Oleson says the main factors for the lack of adoptions are the number of people who surrendered their pets during and after the pandemic, and inflation.
“There is some thought that needs to go into it,” Oleson says. “You wanna make sure that you’re ready for the time commitment as well as the financial commitment of taking care of an animal, which, for basic care, is over $1,000 a year at this point.”
For those who may not be ready to take on the responsibility of a pet, Oleson says there are other ways to help support the Woodford Humane Society.
“If someone is not ready to adopt but is looking for another way to support, a donation to the Safe Fund is a great way to make sure that your gift is gonna go twice as far to help the animals here.”
Oleson says the Adoption Drive is by appointment only.
