Woodford Humane raises enough money for new equipment at fundraiser

WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Woodford County Humane Society put on their third annual Summer Gala this weekend, all in support of the animals.

The event took place Saturday evening at the Keene Barn.

More than 300 tickets were sold. It’s the largest fundraiser for the shelter each year and will help hundreds of homeless pets in the coming year.

The shelter also had a specific goal this year of raising enough money to buy an industrial washing machine at a cost of $15,000. It’s a critical piece of equipment humane society officials say they need to keep pets who come in healthy and comfortable.

Thanks to generous bidders in the silent and live auctions, the shelter surpassed that goal. Organizers say they’re still adding up the final bids and should have a grand total of how much was raised in a few days.
