Women found dead after apartment fire in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Authorities are investigating an apartment fire that left a woman dead over the weekend. The fire occurred Sunday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. on Fort Harrods Drive.

According to the Lexington Fire Department, firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the kitchen of the apartment. Tragically, they discovered a woman deceased in the bathroom.

The victim’s name has not yet been released as authorities are working to notify her family. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firefighters are continuing to examine the scene to determine what sparked the blaze.
