Woman’s video chat with jailed boyfriend lands her behind bars

BURLINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman’s video chat with her jailed boyfriend landed her in jail on child abuse and sexual abuse charges, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators say 22-year old Jessica Ahlbrand, of Florence, told her jailed boyfriend during a video chat on May 10, 2021, that she couldn’t find her “snacks,” and insinuated that the couple’s 18-month child had eaten them.  Deputies say they have reason to believe the “snacks” contained THC.

Investigators say Ahlbrand then showed her boyfriend several photos of the toddler who appeared to be under the influence and incoherent.  Deputies say the couple laughed at the site of the photographs.

Deputies say during the same video chat, Ahlbrand walked into the child’s room and performed sex acts on herself in front of the toddler.

Investigators say days later, on May 15, during another video chat with her jailed boyfriend, Ahlbrand again performed sex acts on herself in front of the child.

On May 19, Ahlbrand was arrested and charged with Sexual Abuse 1st degree, Victim under 12-years of age-Class C Felony and Criminal Abuse 2nd degree, Child 12 or under-Class D Felony, according to deputies.

She was taken to the Boone County Detention Center and held on a $250,000 cash bond, according to investigators.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services took custody of the child.
