Woman Walking Across America For Children Stops In Lexington

While countless Kentuckians went shopping on Black Friday, Stacie Eichinger did what she’s been doing since May 8, 2013, which is walking.

She began her cross country trek in Ocean Shores, Washington.  Her journey included a stop in Lexington on Friday.

Her purpose is to raise awareness for the charity, ‘Beads of Courage.’

The program uses art to help children with serious illnesses cope.  The program also supports the families and medical staff working with the young patients.

‘Beads of Courage’ has been implemented in more than 150 children’s hospitals around the world.

As of this writing, Eichinger has raised more than $19,000.  Her goal is $38,000.

She’s on her way to Savannah, Georgia.  She plans to be there by February.
