Woman robbed at knifepoint on her porch

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman walks out to her front porch and becomes a robbery victim.

It happened on Summerhill Drive Thursday night in Lexington.

Police say the woman had just stepped out onto her front porch to smoke a cigarette at around 11:55 p.m. when a man wearing a bandana over his face and carrying a knife, walked up to her and demanded cash.

Authorities say when the woman refused, the man brought the knife close to her neck.

The woman told police she then threw her cash and phone up in the air and ran into her house.

She says the man started to bang on the door and windows of the home before running off.

Investigators say the robbery suspect left the cash but took the phone. They also say he dropped the knife close to the scene.

Through a tracking  device in the victim’s phone, police say they were able to recover her phone at a nearby bike trail.

Investigators say the also found a black, long-sleeved shirt they believe the suspect was wearing.

Authorities say the woman was not injured.

They are still searching for the suspect.
