Woman pleas guilty to killing pedestrians

FLORENCE, Ky. (WTVQ)- Woman who struck and killed pedestrians in 2015 entered a guilty plea.

Jessica Hood of Erlanger, Ky plead guilty to three counts of manslaughter and two counts of assault.

On March 15, 2015 Florence Police responded to the scene of a car hitting 6 people on Weaver Road.

During her plea, Hood admitted she was distracted by her phone and changing music in her car when she ran over 6 people, but at the time of the accident, could not offer an explanation for the accident.

An accident reconstruction and investigation by the Florence Police Accident Reconstruction Team,  and assistance from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and FBI’s Cellular Analysis Survey Team concluded that Hood wantonly operated her vehicle in a distracted manner.

Evidence shows that Hood’s car went 1,000 feet off the road before striking the pedestrians who were lawfully walking on the sidewalk.

3 of the pedestrians died and two were injured.

49 year-old Charles Napier and his twin grandchildren, Sean and Samantha May, both 13 months, were killed at the scene.

Charles’ daughter, 28 year-old Susan Elam and grandson, 3 year-old Ethan May, suffered serious injuries.

The sixth pedestrian, Jessica Hood and her three passengers were not injured.

Hood will be sentenced on April 16.
