Woman killed after being thrown from truck in Knox County

STICKING CREEK, Ky. (WTVQ) – A violent wreck in Knox County has left one woman dead.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to a single-vehicle accident on KY 223 near Binghamtown Cemetery just before 12:20 a.m. Monday.

When they arrived, they found a pickup truck overturned near a home.

Deputies say they determined the pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control on a curve, hit a guardrail and went airborne over the embankment.

The truck continued to roll, throwing both the driver and the passenger from the truck before hitting a home.

Both the driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital, then airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says the Fayette County Coroner pronounced the female passenger dead at 5:30 a.m. at the hospital.

Deputies say the identities of both occupants are being withheld pending notification of family.
