One dead in crash involving a semi-truck in Christian County

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a semi-truck and a sedan in Hopkinsville.

Troopers say the crash happened around 6 p.m. Saturday in the 4800 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Investigators say a semi driven by 36-year-old Gerasimos Livieratos of Chicago attempted to make a U-turn when a northbound sedan driven by 33-year-old Bernice Franklin of Clarksville, Tennessee struck the trailer.

Franklin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say Livieratos was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide while under the influence, along with several other offenses including reckless driving and DUI.

He was taken to the Christian County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.
