Woman killed in head-on collision in Calloway County

MURRAY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman was killed and another person injured in a head-on collision in Calloway County, according to Kentucky State Police.

Investigators say an SUV driven by 39-year old Shannon Jarvis, of New Concord, crossed into the opposite lane on KY 121S just after 8:00 a.m. on Friday.

KSP says Jarvis’ vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by 80-year old Mary Cole, of New Concord.  Cole died at the scene.

Jarvis was airlifted to Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville, according to KSP.

Investigators say it appeared Cole tried to move to the shoulder of the road to avoid the collision.

The deadly accident is under investigation by reconstruction specialists with Kentucky State Police.
