Woman hit by van, critically injured

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman trying to cross Richmond Road was hit by a van and critically injured Saturday night, Lexington Police say.

The woman was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say she has severe head trauma.

Police tell ABC 36 News crews on the scene that the woman was struck near the intersection of Old Todds Road by a church van with 13 people inside.

According to police, the woman was not in a crosswalk when she was hit.

Lexington Police’s Crash Reconstruction Unit was on the scene as of 11:15 p.m. Saturday. Richmond Road will remain shut down while police investigate.
