Woman gives birth early after being hit by SUV

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A southern Indiana woman who gave birth prematurely after a vehicle allegedly driven by a drunken driver hit her is recovering with her newborn in Louisville.

Louisville police told The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/1u7pMDe ) that Sara Neathamer of Jeffersonville, Ind., who was six months pregnant, and the baby are in stable condition. Police say she and her other two children were hit as they crossed a downtown street after seeing "Disney on Ice" Thursday night.

Kosair Children’s Hospital spokeswoman Maggie Roetker says Neathamer’s 3-year-old and 6-year-old are in fair and good condition. Police said one suffered a concussion and the other has a broken limb.

Metro Corrections said 64-year-old Russell Mullins of New Albany, Ind., was charged with driving under the influence, three counts of first-degree assault and two counts of wanton endangerment.
