Woman dies after smoking while on oxygen

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lexington woman dies after lighting a cigarette while on oxygen, according to the coroner.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office says that caused an explosion at the home on Shelby Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

60-year-old Marcia Rodriguez.was rushed to the University of Kentucky hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The coroner says Rodriguez did not suffer any burn injuries, but the fire was a contributing factor to her death.

The cause of death is still pending.
